R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Sergeant Carl Thomas III of Kemp, who passed away on October 5,
  2011, at the age of 37; and
         WHEREAS, Born on November 19, 1973, in Dallas to Carl Henry
  Thomas, Jr., and Susan Roberta Harmel Thomas, "Skip" Thomas
  graduated from Kemp High School; he attended the North Texas
  Regional Police Academy and then began his career with the Kaufman
  County Sheriff's Department in 1999; he served as a detention
  officer before becoming a peace officer in 2000, and he went on to
  hold the position of communications officer at the Kaufman County
  Law Enforcement Center; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Thomas was an outstanding deputy and an
  integral member of the force for 11 years; consistently
  demonstrating his love of the job, he ably trained new deputies; he
  was also an avid golfer, and he liked to travel, ranch, and work on
  the farm; and
         WHEREAS, A beloved family member and respected public
  servant, Skip Thomas departed this life far too soon, and he is
  deeply missed by all those who were privileged to know him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Skip Thomas
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  parents, Carl Henry Thomas, Jr., and Susan Roberta Harmel Thomas;
  to his sisters, Wendy Thomas and Shari Hildabrant and her husband,
  Jake; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sergeant
  Skip Thomas.
