R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The month of November provides a special time to |
|
|
recognize philanthropic contributions that have made a positive |
|
|
difference across the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Every day, nonprofit organizations, companies, and |
|
|
individual volunteers share their time and resources to support |
|
|
people in need, and their selfless efforts help to make our |
|
|
communities better places to live; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One group that has played a vital role in charitable |
|
|
work throughout our country and beyond is the Association of |
|
|
Fundraising Professionals, which promotes ethical and effective |
|
|
fundraising; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, AFP represents 30,000 members in the United States, |
|
|
Canada, and Mexico, including 12 chapters in Texas, who aim to |
|
|
fulfill the organization's mission by offering affiliates |
|
|
education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing, and |
|
|
advocacy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By fostering meaningful participation in a host of |
|
|
charitable endeavors, AFP has set an outstanding example of social |
|
|
responsibility while helping to create a brighter future for |
|
|
countless Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize November 2013 as Texas Philanthropy |
|
|
Month and commend the members of the Association of Fundraising |
|
|
Professionals for their efforts to benefit their communities. |
