R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
  temper the profound sadness that the death of Maria Alvarez Mora of
  Garland on January 26, 2012, brings to all who loved her; and
         WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mrs. Mora was born on August 25,
  1921, in Port Lavaca and grew up in the Corpus Christi area; in
  1943, she married Jose B. Mora, and their family eventually grew to
  include 11 children; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Mora was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker;
  skilled in the kitchen, she would make stacks of homemade
  tortillas, fresh bread, sweet cake loaves, and pumpkin-filled
  empanadas, which she lovingly shared with friends, neighbors, and
  anyone who stopped by; in addition to caring for her home and
  family, she occasionally babysat and took in ironing to help with
  expenses; and
         WHEREAS, This lifelong Catholic drew great strength from her
  faith, and her patience and determination to persevere in the face
  of hardship was a source of great inspiration to others; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Maria Mora will
  remember the way she touched their lives with her kindness,
  generosity, and selflessness, and she will forever hold a treasured
  place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maria Alvarez Mora
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  sons, Juan, Jesus, Javier, Jacob, Jaime, Joe Henry, Juan Jose, and
  Manuel A. Mora; to her daughters, Maria Magdalena De Leon, Maria
  Luisa Mora, and Maria Concepcion Mora; to her 27 grandchildren, 30
  great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; to her
  siblings, Abelardo Alvarez, Jose Alvarez, and Dora Suarez; and to
  her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family, and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria
  Alvarez Mora.
