R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A successful Texas-based company, Fluor |
|
Corporation, marked a special milestone in its rich history on |
|
April 21, 2012, with the observance of its 100th anniversary; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded as Fluor Construction Company in Santa Ana, |
|
California, in 1912, the business soon became well known for its |
|
outstanding performance of precise engineering and construction in |
|
the emerging petroleum industry; and |
|
WHEREAS, In the decades that followed, Fluor took on work |
|
throughout the United States and in locations around the globe and |
|
expanded its focus to include the power, chemical, mining, and |
|
metals industries; in all of its initiatives, Fluor has |
|
demonstrated an exceptional talent for innovation, and it has |
|
pioneered a series of technological breakthroughs from the 1920s to |
|
the present; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, this Fortune 500 company is one of the |
|
largest publicly traded firms in the world involved in engineering, |
|
procurement, construction, maintenance, and project management, |
|
employing more than 40,000 people on six continents; in addition to |
|
its longtime areas of operation, Fluor does business in government |
|
services, life sciences, manufacturing, renewable energy, |
|
telecommunications, and transportation infrastructure, among other |
|
fields; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since 2006, the corporation's global headquarters |
|
has been located in Irving, and Fluor also maintains offices in |
|
Dallas, Austin, and Sugar Land; by furthering economic prosperity |
|
as well as enhancing our state's reputation for technological |
|
advancement, Fluor has earned an important place in the Texas |
|
business community, and it is a pleasure to recognize the company on |
|
its centennial; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Fluor |
|
Corporation and extend sincere best wishes for continued success to |
|
the company's management and staff; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
