R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M University, who has been named |
|
|
the recipient of the 2012 Outland Trophy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This coveted honor is awarded each year to the |
|
|
nation's top interior lineman by the Football Writers Association |
|
|
of America; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A junior offensive tackle and three-year starter, |
|
|
Mr. Joeckel was the mainstay of an Aggie offensive line that had a |
|
|
profound impact on the team's success in its inaugural season in the |
|
|
Southeastern Conference; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Aggies finished third in the nation in total |
|
|
offense, with 552.3 yards per game, and in scoring offense, with |
|
|
44.8 points per game; the line played a vital role in the |
|
|
extraordinary success of Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny |
|
|
Manziel; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Joeckel is a first-team All-American and is |
|
|
respected and admired by his teammates, his coaches, and his |
|
|
opponents; he is truly deserving of recognition for his hard work, |
|
|
his dedication, and his exceptional skill; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Luke Joeckel on his receipt of the |
|
|
2012 Outland Trophy and commend him on his extraordinary |
|
|
achievements at Texas A&M University; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Joeckel as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
