R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Denison Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its |
|
|
100th anniversary on February 12, 2012; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1912 by five businessmen, the Denison |
|
|
Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to supporting local |
|
|
businesses and fostering a competitive economic environment in the |
|
|
area; the group sponsors a leadership academy, offers professional |
|
|
development seminars and networking opportunities, and supports |
|
|
efforts to retain and recruit industry; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to encouraging economic prosperity, the |
|
|
chamber partners with other groups to help make the city an even |
|
|
better place in which to live; it works with the school district on |
|
|
scholastic improvement and educational awareness, and it promotes |
|
|
tourism and sponsors numerous recreational events for youth; |
|
|
moreover, the chamber's board played an important role in the |
|
|
creation of Lake Texoma, and its recommendation to introduce |
|
|
striped bass into the reservoir has resulted in an exciting sport |
|
|
fishing attraction that regularly draws enthusiastic anglers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For a century, the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce |
|
|
has worked to encourage economic growth and enhance the quality of |
|
|
life for area residents, and it is a pleasure to commend this |
|
|
dynamic organization for its leadership and commitment; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Denison |
|
|
Area Chamber of Commerce and extend sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success to its members and staff; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
