R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Starr County Mariachi groups performing in the
  State Capitol Rotunda at noon today, Thursday, January 31, 2013,
  have performed at the national and state levels and garnered many
  awards over the past two years; and
         WHEREAS, Students in the Veterans Middle School Mariachi
  Juvenil de America are now the three-time National Champions at the
  Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza in San Antonio, Texas; they will
  produce their fourth music CD in the next month; they have won every
  competition in the past two years; and they were invited to and
  appeared on America's Got Talent; and
         WHEREAS, Students of the Rio Grande City High School Mariachi
  Cascabel are also the three-time national champions in the high
  school category, have won every competition they were in for the
  past two years, and were invited to and appeared on America's Got
  Talent; and
         WHEREAS, Students of the Ringgold Middle School Mariachi
  Nuevo Cascabel won second place in the national competition; and
         WHEREAS, Students of the Grulla Middle School Mariachi Grulla
  de Plata have won honors as the AAA Champions of the Mexican
  American School Board Association Competition; and
         WHEREAS, Students from the Grulla High School Mariachi Grulla
  de Plata have also won the AAA MASBA State Championship and placed
  third in the national championship; and
         WHEREAS, These students are trained and directed by an
  extraordinary teaching team consisting of Eloy Garza, Diana
  Degollado, Jose Rangel, Alfonso Rodriguez, and Alex Rodriguez; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, The House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor these Starr County student mariachis and
  their directors for their outstanding performances and astounding
  success and extend to them our sincerest admiration and respect for
  their accomplishments; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the directors of these outstanding performers to
  display in their home schools of the Rio Grande City Consolidated
  Independent School District as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
