R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Marsha Barber is retiring as the director of |
|
development of Trinity Christian Academy in Willow Park in May |
|
2013, drawing to a close a distinguished career in education that |
|
has spanned four decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, After receiving her bachelor's degree in elementary |
|
education with an early childhood certification from Texas |
|
Christian University, Dr. Barber worked as a teacher in the public |
|
school system; over the years, she went on to earn her master's |
|
degree in education from the University of Houston and a doctorate |
|
in educational administration with an emphasis on Christian |
|
education from Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Barber established Trinity Christian Academy in |
|
1993; based at the Trinity Bible Church in Willow Park, the school |
|
initially served 10 students in first through fourth grade; in the |
|
past decade, she has overseen the development of TCA into an |
|
institution with independent facilities that serves approximately |
|
500 students from preschool to 12th grade; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following her retirement at the end of the 2013 |
|
school year, Dr. Barber will stay active as a consultant for |
|
developing Christian schools and as a volunteer with the Rotary |
|
Club and Parker County Connections; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed educator enjoys the love and support |
|
of her husband, Fred, and her three children, Erich, Christi, and |
|
Lauren, and she is looking forward to spending more time with her |
|
family and catching up on her reading; and |
|
WHEREAS, Marsha Barber has demonstrated an unwavering |
|
commitment to her students, and her hard work and dedication have |
|
made a positive difference in the lives of countless young Texans; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Marsha Barber on her retirement as |
|
the director of development of Trinity Christian Academy and extend |
|
to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Barber as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
