R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Students from Valle Verde Early College High School
  in Ysleta are gathering in Austin to participate in the Texas
  Capitol Schoolhouse event on February 4, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Capitol Schoolhouse is a program that
  gives students and teachers from across the state the opportunity
  to demonstrate to legislators and other state leaders how
  technology is being used at their schools and how it can enhance the
  learning process; and
         WHEREAS, Valle Verde Early College High School enables
  students to get a head start on their college education by earning
  an associate's degree while completing high school; the curriculum
  at VVECHS emphasizes innovative instruction using advanced
  learning tools, which includes outfitting students with an iPad
  tablet on enrollment; and
         WHEREAS, Representing VVECHS are students Erik Buenrostro,
  Victoria Rosales, Isaac Bautista, and Mariah Alvarez, school
  principal Paul Covey, math instructor Yvonne Perez, and Shelley
  Smallwood from Ysleta ISD's Innovative Learning Department; the
  delegation is showcasing an array of successful approaches to
  integrating technology in the classroom, including student
  projects, online resource sharing applications, and best practices
  in extended learning; and
         WHEREAS, Evolving technology continues to improve our lives
  and the way we learn, and educators at Valle Verde ECHS are
  embracing 21st-century teaching tools to help students prepare for
  the exciting opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the members of the delegation from Valle
  Verde Early College High School for their participation in the
  Texas Capitol Schoolhouse event and extend to them sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
