R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The year 2012 marked the 100th anniversary of the
  founding of Alta Vista Elementary School in El Paso; and
         WHEREAS, When Alta Vista first opened its doors on September
  5, 1912, principal Eunice Payne and a staff of three teachers
  welcomed 148 students into the 11-room facility; since that time,
  the school has expanded to include 34 classrooms, which currently
  serve more than 400 young Texans; and
         WHEREAS, One of the district's oldest campuses, the
  institution continues to thrive under the guidance of principal
  Diane Harris, who has worked with her assistant principal and
  faculty to maintain an outstanding learning environment; and
         WHEREAS, Alta Vista Elementary School has equipped countless
  young Texans with a strong foundation on which to build, and its
  100-year history is a testament to the enduring value the community
  places on the education of its children; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Alta Vista
  Elementary School and extend to its administrators, faculty, staff,
  and students sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
