R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Mike Price retired as head football coach at The
  University of Texas at El Paso in November 2012, drawing to a close
  an eight-year tenure with the Miners and more than four decades as a
  collegiate coach; and
         WHEREAS, After arriving in El Paso in 2004, Coach Price
  guided the Miners to three bowl games, helped boost attendance at
  home games, and increased awareness of the UTEP program at the
  national level; at the time of his retirement, his 177 career
  victories ranked sixth among active Football Bowl Subdivision
  coaches; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Puget Sound, Coach
  Price began his career as an assistant at Washington State
  University in 1969; he also gained experience as an assistant on the
  staffs of the University of Missouri and his alma mater before
  taking his first head coaching job in 1981 at Weber State
  University; and
         WHEREAS, From 1989 to 2002, he was head coach at Washington
  State, and he led the Cougars to two Pacific 10 Conference
  championships, two Rose Bowl games, and three other bowl
  appearances; one of his most successful seasons came in 1997, when
  he earned a host of Coach of the Year accolades; and
         WHEREAS, The skill, professionalism, and commitment to
  excellence demonstrated by Mike Price greatly benefited the UTEP
  football team, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many
  achievements as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Price on his retirement from
  The University of Texas at El Paso and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Coach Price as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
