R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, McKinney has been ranked number two on Money |
|
|
magazine's 2012 list of Best Places to Live among America's small |
|
|
cities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The magazine considered U.S. cities with |
|
|
populations between 50,000 and 300,000 and rated them according to |
|
|
a number of factors, including safety, health care, home |
|
|
affordability, job growth, diversity, leisure activities, and |
|
|
quality of schools, along with such intangibles as community |
|
|
spirit; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Money praised McKinney's blend of vintage charm and |
|
|
modern amenities, as exemplified by its historic downtown square; |
|
|
among the many assets of this thriving community are its variety of |
|
|
housing options, business-friendly tax climate, and burgeoning job |
|
|
growth, and residents also appreciate their hometown's proximity to |
|
|
Dallas as well as its easy access to golf courses and luxuriant |
|
|
green space; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, McKinney's impressive showing on the list is further |
|
|
confirmation of the high quality of life enjoyed by its citizens, |
|
|
and all who reside there may take great pride in the well-deserved |
|
|
attention that their community has received; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature congratulate the city of McKinney on its selection for |
|
|
second place on Money magazine's 2012 list of Best Places to Live |
|
|
and extend to its residents sincere best wishes for the future. |
