R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Yash Patel, a junior at Hebron High School in
  Carrollton, has scored a perfect 2400 on the SAT, and this rare feat
  is indeed deserving of recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Ranked second in academics in his class of 800
  students, Mr. Patel challenges himself with a demanding course load
  that includes numerous advanced placement classes; he is a student
  representative with the National Honor Society and a tutor with the
  Science National Honor Society, and he has been nominated for
  several student excellence awards by his teachers; and
         WHEREAS, The president of the Hebron High Latin Club, Mr.
  Patel has won first place in area and state language competitions
  and represented his school at a 2012 national event, where he placed
  third in the vocabulary portion of the contest; his extracurricular
  activities also include the school tennis team and DECA, and he is a
  first-degree black belt in tae kwon do; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Patel takes part in a variety of service
  activities as well, and during the summer preceding his junior
  year, he worked at a hospital in a rural area of India; in addition,
  he has devoted more than 100 hours to volunteer duties at Baylor
  Dallas hospital and has assisted at the Dallas Marathon and
  participated in charitable benefit walks for various causes; and
         WHEREAS, A source of great pride to his family and his
  community, Yash Patel has demonstrated exceptional initiative and
  maturity in pursuing his academic goals, and he may take
  justifiable pride in his many achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Yash Patel on attaining a perfect
  score on the SAT and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Patel as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
