R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Yash Patel, a junior at Hebron High School in |
|
|
Carrollton, has scored a perfect 2400 on the SAT, and this rare feat |
|
|
is indeed deserving of recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ranked second in academics in his class of 800 |
|
|
students, Mr. Patel challenges himself with a demanding course load |
|
|
that includes numerous advanced placement classes; he is a student |
|
|
representative with the National Honor Society and a tutor with the |
|
|
Science National Honor Society, and he has been nominated for |
|
|
several student excellence awards by his teachers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The president of the Hebron High Latin Club, Mr. |
|
|
Patel has won first place in area and state language competitions |
|
|
and represented his school at a 2012 national event, where he placed |
|
|
third in the vocabulary portion of the contest; his extracurricular |
|
|
activities also include the school tennis team and DECA, and he is a |
|
|
first-degree black belt in tae kwon do; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Patel takes part in a variety of service |
|
|
activities as well, and during the summer preceding his junior |
|
|
year, he worked at a hospital in a rural area of India; in addition, |
|
|
he has devoted more than 100 hours to volunteer duties at Baylor |
|
|
Dallas hospital and has assisted at the Dallas Marathon and |
|
|
participated in charitable benefit walks for various causes; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A source of great pride to his family and his |
|
|
community, Yash Patel has demonstrated exceptional initiative and |
|
|
maturity in pursuing his academic goals, and he may take |
|
|
justifiable pride in his many achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Yash Patel on attaining a perfect |
|
|
score on the SAT and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Patel as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
