R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Sai Pituk of El Paso was selected as one of America's |
|
|
top three East Asian chefs during a competition held in Atlantic |
|
|
City, New Jersey, on January 14, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Pituk claimed her prize by defeating seven other |
|
|
contestants at the New York-New Jersey regional cook-off of |
|
|
"Culinary Battles: Supreme Asian Chef"; this red-carpet cooking |
|
|
event was judged by celebrity guest chefs from such familiar |
|
|
television programs as Hell's Kitchen and Iron Chef America; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tempting the arbiters with her preparation of |
|
|
Thai-style shrimp carpaccio, Ms. Pituk was given top honors for a |
|
|
dish that won acclaim from the entire judging panel and was praised |
|
|
as perfection by one expert; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The owner of the Tara Thai restaurant in El Paso, she |
|
|
has previously appeared on the Bravo Network's Around the World in |
|
|
80 Plates; Ms. Pituk is a U.S. Army veteran who learned the value of |
|
|
teamwork while serving in the military; she is best known for her |
|
|
upscale versions of so-called street food, which she discovers |
|
|
during her travels and prepares with a spicy Asian spin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Having elevated ordinary food to new heights, Sai |
|
|
Pituk has greatly enhanced the cultural life of her community and |
|
|
state, and she is deserving of special recognition for her |
|
|
impressive achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sai Pituk for being named one of |
|
|
the top three East Asian chefs in the United States at the 2013 |
|
|
New York-New Jersey regional cook-off of "Culinary Battles: |
|
|
Supreme Asian Chef" and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in her savory endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Pituk as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
