R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Physical Therapy Association
  are visiting Austin on February 12, 2013, and this occasion
  provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the vital importance of
  physical therapy to the health and productivity of many Texans; and
         WHEREAS, The goal of physical therapy is to improve the
  quality of life and well-being for people of all ages, from newborns
  to elderly individuals, who suffer from conditions that limit the
  body's ability to move and function in daily life; with care and
  dedication, physical therapist practitioners empower their clients
  to heal, recuperate, and get back to their lives; and
         WHEREAS, Today, more than 18,500 physical therapists and
  physical therapist assistants treat an estimated 100,000 Texans
  each day in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private
  practices, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools,
  workplaces, nursing homes, and sports and fitness facilities; not
  only do these health care professionals offer personally tailored
  programs to help individuals overcome injuries, but they also work
  with their patients to prevent future illness and harm; and
         WHEREAS, A chapter of the American Physical Therapy
  Association, the Texas Physical Therapy Association was founded in
  1930; it represents more than 4,000 physical therapists, physical
  therapist assistants, and physical therapy students; across Texas,
  these skilled professionals make valuable contributions to the
  advancement of physical therapy practice, research, and education
  to better serve the public's health care needs; and
         WHEREAS, Physical therapists have helped countless Texans
  suffering from diseases or injuries to regain their health,
  mobility, and independence, enabling them to return to enjoying
  healthy, productive lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 12, 2013, as Texas Physical
  Therapy Day and commend physical therapists and physical therapist
  assistants on their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Texas Physical Therapy Association as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
