R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Little Elm has been named the safest large city in
  Texas by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and
         WHEREAS, Based on statistics from the FBI's Uniform Crime
  Report, Little Elm had the lowest number of combined violent and
  property crimes in 2011 of any city in the Lone Star State with a
  population over 25,000; moreover, the city placed 18th in terms of
  the lowest number of such crimes in the nation; and
         WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Chief Waylan Rhodes, the
  Little Elm Police Department has built an outstanding reputation,
  and its efforts have been bolstered by partnerships with area
  residents and such programs as Neighborhood Crime Watch, Business
  Crime Watch, and National Night Out; and
         WHEREAS, The public servants and dedicated volunteers of
  Little Elm have played a vital role in fostering a safe and peaceful
  community, and they may take great pride in this impressive
  designation; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the city of Little Elm on earning
  recognition as the safest large city in Texas and extend to its
  police, civilian staff, and residents best wishes for continued
  success.
