R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, In a memorable matchup in the 2010 Sun Bowl in El
  Paso, the University of Notre Dame football team concluded its
  season with a 33-17 triumph over the University of Miami; and
         WHEREAS, Taking the field on December 31 before the largest
  crowd in Sun Bowl history, the Fighting Irish cruised to victory
  after jumping out to a 14-0 lead during the first quarter and
  stretching their advantage to 24 points by halftime; the win
  extended the team's late-season winning streak to four games and
  gave Notre Dame a final record of eight wins and five losses; and
         WHEREAS, Providing the offensive spark for the Irish was
  quarterback Tommy Rees, who passed for 201 yards and two
  touchdowns; Michael Floyd was on the receiving end of both TD tosses
  and hauled in four other passes to finish with 109 yards for the
  day; on the other side of the ball, the resolute Notre Dame defense
  held Miami to just three points during the first three quarters and
  collected a total of four interceptions; and
         WHEREAS, With their defeat of the University of Miami, the
  Fighting Irish claimed Notre Dame's 15th bowl game victory, and the
  memory of that accomplishment will be cherished by the team and its
  loyal fans for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the University of Notre Dame
  football team on winning the 2010 Sun Bowl in El Paso; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the University of Notre Dame as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
