R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Gwenn and Orville Odom of Beaumont celebrated their
  50th wedding anniversary on February 2, 2013, and they may indeed
  reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared;
  and
         WHEREAS, A native of Apple Springs, Orville Neil Odom was
  completing his last year at the University of Houston pharmacy
  school when he met Gwenn Gabbert on a blind date in 1962; the pair
  enjoyed a summer courtship before he proposed to her along the
  Angelina River that October, and they were married the following
  February at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Lake
  Charles, Louisiana, the bride's hometown; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Odom earned his bachelor's degree in pharmacy
  shortly thereafter and was hired by Smith's Pharmacy in Beaumont,
  where the couple settled; in his free time, Mr. Odom has enjoyed
  playing golf and participating in the Rotary Club, the chamber of
  commerce, and the Masons; Mrs. Odom has dedicated herself to her
  family and her community throughout their marriage; the former
  president of the Beaumont Symphony Ladies Society, the Chi Omega
  Alumnae Association, and the Beaumont Civic Ballet Society, she has
  also served as an executive board member with the Beaumont Art
  Museum and as recording secretary for the Windsor Park Homeowners
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, The great joys in the life of Mr. and Mrs. Odom are
  their daughter, Allison Claire Pringle, and her husband Richard,
  their son, Scott Thomas Odom, and their grandchildren, Claire,
  Catherine, and Mary; and
         WHEREAS, For half a century, Gwenn and Orville Odom have
  brought to their marriage laughter, kindness, and devotion, and it
  is a pleasure to honor them for their enduring commitment; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gwenn and Orville Odom on their
  50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Odom as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
