R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of New Hope Baptist Church in Dallas are
  celebrating the installation of their new pastor, the Reverend
  Doctor Ronald E. Jones, on January 27, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Ronald Jones was born and raised in Dallas and
  earned his bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University, his
  master's degree from Abilene Christian University, and his doctoral
  degree from Cornerstone University; his credentials also include
  certifications as a temperament counselor and mediator, and as a
  member of the National Christian Counselors Association, he directs
  the counseling ministry at New Hope; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant for nearly three decades,
  Mr. Jones was elected mayor of Garland in 2007 and is currently
  serving his third term; he contributes to his professional
  community as president of the Metroplex Mayors Association and as a
  member of the Regional Transportation Council of the North Texas
  Council of Governments; previously, he held the post of assistant
  city manager, and as a former management consultant to the city, he
  helped set up a relief center for the victims of Hurricane Katrina;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mayor Jones has held leadership roles with a number
  of worthy organizations, including the North Texas Commission, the
  Garland Civic Theatre, the Achievement Center of Texas, and New
  Beginnings Center; he is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of
  Garland, the Garland Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, the
  Garland Asian American Task Force, the Garland Association for
  Hispanic Affairs, and the Garland Landmark Society; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Jones enjoys the love and
  support of his wife, Peggy, with whom he has shared 46 years of
  marriage; their treasured family includes two sons, seven
  granddaughters, and a grandson; and
         WHEREAS, The appointment of Pastor Jones marks the beginning
  of an exciting new chapter in the history of New Hope Baptist
  Church, and members of the congregation may indeed look forward to
  deepening their faith and continuing their good works under his
  spiritual guidance; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Doctor Ronald E. Jones
  on his installation as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church and extend
  to him sincere best wishes for success in all his future endeavors;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Pastor Jones as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
