R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes pleasure in |
|
|
recognizing February 20, 2013, as Texas Dental Association Day; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Dental Association has more than 7,700 |
|
|
members and is the third-largest state dental association in the |
|
|
United States; it represents the oral health care providers in our |
|
|
state and advocates the highest standards for the profession; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The association was chartered on May 17, 1871; the |
|
|
association's Texas Dental Journal was first published in 1883 and |
|
|
is the oldest continuously operating dental periodical in the |
|
|
Western Hemisphere; following a study by the association on the |
|
|
regulation of dental practice in Texas, the first law regulating |
|
|
dental practice was passed by the Texas Legislature in 1889; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The mission of the association is to be the "Voice of |
|
|
Dentistry in Texas" and to promote high-quality oral health care |
|
|
for all Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend the Texas Dental Association for |
|
|
advocating the highest standards of dental care for the citizens of |
|
|
this state and welcome representatives as they celebrate Texas |
|
|
Dental Association Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives. |
