R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Clara Lewis is receiving the Outstanding Woman in |
|
|
Community Service Award from the North Harris County Branch of the |
|
|
American Association of University Women on February 23, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Known for her deep and abiding love of the arts, |
|
|
Ms. Lewis has contributed immeasurably to local culture; she is |
|
|
artistic director of the Cypress Creek Community Chorale, with |
|
|
which she has toured extensively, and she founded the Cypress Creek |
|
|
Foundation for the Arts and Community Enrichment, the Cypress Creek |
|
|
Fine Arts Association, and the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Lewis further distinguishes herself as minister |
|
|
of music and executive director of community center operations at |
|
|
Cypress Creek Christian Church and Community Center, where she has |
|
|
made her career for nearly three decades; her work in sacred music |
|
|
has led to workshops and performances all over the globe, and she |
|
|
has been a U.S. delegate to the International Federation of Choral |
|
|
Musicians World Symposium on Choral Music; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic woman is a graduate of Texas Christian |
|
|
University and a former member of its school of education faculty; |
|
|
in addition to promoting the arts, she shares her time and talents |
|
|
as a member of the Northwest Houston Green Medians steering |
|
|
committee and the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce and as a |
|
|
director of Interfaith-Samaritan Counseling Ministries; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With her energy, creativity, and enthusiasm, Clara |
|
|
Lewis has made North Harris County an even better place in which to |
|
|
live, and her accomplishments are greatly appreciated by her fellow |
|
|
citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Clara Lewis on her receipt of the |
|
|
Outstanding Woman in Community Service Award from the North Harris |
|
|
County Branch of the American Association of University Women and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Lewis as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
