R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Gary Reeves has rendered outstanding service as
  interim superintendent of the Garland Independent School District;
  and
         WHEREAS, A longtime employee and administrator with Garland
  ISD, Dr. Reeves joined the district in 1969, when he accepted a post
  as a teacher and coach at Garland High School; over the years, he
  has served as assistant principal at Lakeview Centennial High
  School, as principal at Kimberlin Academy for Excellence, and as
  principal at North Garland High School; since 1984, he has held the
  office of assistant superintendent of administration; and
         WHEREAS, Following the retirement of Superintendent Curtis
  Culwell in December 2012, Dr. Reeves assumed the duties of acting
  superintendent, an office to which he has brought the strong
  leadership skills and broad experience he has acquired over the
  course of a stellar 47-year career in the field of education; and
         WHEREAS, While carrying out his myriad duties with Garland
  ISD, Dr. Reeves has also given generously of his time and talents to
  a number of professional organizations, serving as president of the
  North Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators, the
  Dallas County Association of School Administrators, the Garland
  Administrators Association and the Region 10 chapter of the
  Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE); he is the
  recipient of numerous well-deserved accolades, including
  designation as Administrator of the Year by ATPE; and
         WHEREAS, By undertaking the additional responsibilities of
  acting superintendent, Dr. Reeves has demonstrated an exceptional
  commitment to Garland ISD and has been instrumental in facilitating
  a smooth and seamless transition in the leadership of the district;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Dr. Gary Reeves for his service as interim
  superintendent for the Garland Independent School District and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Reeves as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
