R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The City of Garland and the Garland Fire Department
  have earned Fit-Friendly Worksite awards from the American Heart
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, Honored for promoting a culture of wellness, these
  notable North Texas employers have demonstrated a commitment to
  supporting physical, nutritional, and cultural activities that
  benefit staff; and
         WHEREAS, The Garland Fire Department's documented success in
  improving employee fitness is credited, in part, to its creation of
  an onsite CrossFit gym and running path; these contributions to the
  working environment helped the department to earn the AHA Platinum
  Level Fit-Friendly Worksite Award; and
         WHEREAS, Named a Gold Level Fit-Friendly Worksite for the
  fourth consecutive year, the City of Garland was honored for its
  Commit to Wellness program, which has helped a number of city
  workers to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles; and
         WHEREAS, The fitness programs of the City of Garland and the
  Garland Fire Department are improving the well-being of
  participants, while saving money and improving productivity, and
  these proactive and beneficial examples of municipal innovation
  merit wide recognition and praise; now, ther
  efore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Garland and the Garland
  Fire Department on earning Fit-Friendly Worksite awards from the
  American Heart Association and commend all involved for their
  achievements; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the award recipients as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
