R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of Garland and the Garland Fire Department |
|
have earned Fit Friendly Workplace awards from the American Heart |
|
Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Honored for promoting a culture of wellness, these |
|
notable North Texas employers have demonstrated a commitment to |
|
supporting physical, nutritional, and cultural activities that |
|
benefit staff; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Garland Fire Department's documented success in |
|
improving employee fitness is credited, in part, to its creation of |
|
an onsite CrossFit gym and running path; these contributions to the |
|
working environment helped the department to earn the AHA Platinum |
|
Level Fit Friendly Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Named a Gold Level Fit Friendly Worksite for the |
|
fourth consecutive year, the City of Garland was honored for its |
|
Commit to Wellness program, which has helped a number of city |
|
workers to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles; and |
|
WHEREAS, The fitness programs of the City of Garland and the |
|
Garland Fire Department are improving the well-being of |
|
participants, while saving money and improving productivity, and |
|
these proactive and beneficial examples of municipal innovation |
|
merit wide recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Garland and the Garland |
|
Fire Department on earning Fit Friendly Workplace awards from the |
|
American Heart Association and commend all involved for their |
|
achievements; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the award recipients as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
