R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, D'Artagnan Bebel of Houston is being presented with
  an Outstanding Texan Award by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus on
  February 26, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, A native of New York City, Mr. Bebel graduated cum
  laude from Howard University and magna cum laude from the Columbia
  University Business School, and he has established a very
  successful career in broadcasting; over the course of more than
  three decades, he has worked in the sales divisions of Fox, CBS, and
  the Dispatch Group, and since 2001, he has been the vice president
  and general manager of two Fox television stations and the Fox
  website in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Bebel's efforts in behalf of his community
  include his service on the boards of Harmony Charter Schools, the
  Texas Association of Broadcasters, the Zina Garrison Academy, the
  Minority Media and Telecommunications Council Braintrust, and the
  Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International; he has
  chaired the board of the Better Business Bureau of Houston, and he
  and his wife, Angela, have been co-chairs of the American Tennis
  Association 87th National Championships and honorary co-chairs of
  the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Association Gala; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Bebel's contributions have been recognized with
  such honors as the Drum Major for Justice Award from the NAACP, the
  Outstanding Community Service Award from Children at Risk, and the
  MLK Dream Keepers Award; in 2000, he was named Alumnus of the Year
  by the Howard University School of Communications, and in 2007 and
  2008, he was chosen as Houston's Best TV Station Manager by American
  Women in Radio and TV; moreover, the City of Houston has paid
  tribute to his accomplishments by proclaiming "D'Artagnan Bebel
  Day"; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his other responsibilities,
  Mr. Bebel is a skilled tennis player who has coached student teams
  and has been ranked by the U.S. Tennis Association; he is also a
  popular keynote speaker and frequently takes the time to address
  students in an effort to motivate them to reach their full
  potential; he and his wife are the parents of four children,
  D'Artagnan, Alysia, Julian, and Kalina; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedication to his profession and his
  civic involvement, D'Artagnan Bebel has greatly benefited his
  fellow citizens, and he is indeed worthy of this prestigious
  accolade; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate D'Artagnan Bebel on his receipt of
  an Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus
  and commend him for his long record of service to others; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Bebel as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
