R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, There are no words that can diminish the pain caused
  by a young life cut short, but the family and friends of Travis
  Winfield Sampley of Austin will forever treasure their memories of
  this esteemed Texan, who passed away on November 1, 2011, at the age
  of 32; and
         WHEREAS, Born on February 26, 1979, in Houston to Donald
  Howard Sampley and Gayle Galloway Sampley, Travis Sampley attended
  Oaks Elementary School, Atascocita Middle School, and Humble High
  School before graduating in 1997; he developed an interest in
  public affairs during his youth and was elected a senator while
  participating in the Texas Boys State program; a charter member of
  Atascocita United Methodist Church, he joined its Boy Scout troop
  and later became an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the
  Arrow, in addition to earning other honors; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Sampley went on to study at Southwestern
  University in Georgetown, where he belonged to the Xi Chapter of the
  Kappa Alpha Order and earned his bachelor's degree in 2001; and
         WHEREAS, Pursuing a career in state government, Mr. Sampley
  joined the legislative community when he was hired as an
  administrative aide to Senator Kip Averitt, and he later worked as a
  legislative aide to Speaker Tom Craddick and as a committee clerk
  for the House Corrections and County Affairs Committees; at the
  time of his death, he was employed as the chief of staff for
  Representative Ralph Sheffield; he excelled in all of his
  assignments, and his thorough knowledge of committee procedures and
  other aspects of the legislative process made him a valuable
  resource for elected officials and for his fellow staff members;
  and
         WHEREAS, A generous and giving person, Mr. Sampley was always
  willing to help others with advice and encouragement, and he was
  known for his bright smile, fun-loving personality, and passion for
  music; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to his work and to the people and
  interests he loved, Travis Sampley had a positive influence on the
  lives of many people, and he is deeply missed by all those who had
  the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Travis Winfield
  Sampley and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his parents, Donald and Gayle Sampley; to his brother, Stuart
  Galloway Sampley, and his wife, Kelly, and their children, Murphy
  and Winfield; to his grandparents, Neal and Fran Galloway; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Travis
  Sampley.
