R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Sam L. Susser, who has been named BorderFest's Border |
|
|
Texan of the Year for 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Susser is president and chief executive officer |
|
|
of Susser Holdings Corporation and chair and chief executive |
|
|
officer of Susser Petroleum Partners Limited Partnership; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, |
|
|
Mr. Susser worked with Salomon Brothers in New York and Dallas |
|
|
before founding the Southguard Corporation, now Susser Holdings, in |
|
|
1988; the company operates more than 550 Stripes convenience |
|
|
stores; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Susser Petroleum Partners distributes over 1.4 |
|
|
billion gallons of fuel each year across its network; the company |
|
|
employs approximately 8,400 workers and brings in $5.7 billion in |
|
|
revenue; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A 2009 inductee into the Texas Business Hall of |
|
|
Fame, Mr. Susser is active in numerous community organizations, |
|
|
including the advisory boards of the McCombs School of Business and |
|
|
the Schusterman Center for Jewish Studies at The University of |
|
|
Texas at Austin; he has also served on the boards of the Quinn |
|
|
Driscoll Foundation, the Texas State Aquarium, and the Corpus |
|
|
Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation; he is truly |
|
|
deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Sam L. Susser on his many exemplary |
|
|
achievements and extend to him congratulations on being named |
|
|
BorderFest's Border Texan of the Year for 2013; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Susser as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
