R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The students and teachers of Northwest Preparatory |
|
|
Academy Charter School in Houston are presenting the campus's 12th |
|
|
annual Black History Program on February 28, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Taking as its theme "Liberty and Justice for All," |
|
|
this exciting celebration of African American history and culture |
|
|
will feature performances by students and presentations by guest |
|
|
speakers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 2001, Northwest Preparatory Academy is an |
|
|
open-enrollment institution that provides a student-centered |
|
|
learning environment for more than 300 young people; the school |
|
|
places a strong emphasis on core subjects and involves members of |
|
|
the community in the education process to assist pupils in reaching |
|
|
their full potential; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By honoring the achievements of African American |
|
|
trailblazers and leaders in its Black History Program, Northwest |
|
|
Preparatory Academy Charter School is helping its students to |
|
|
strengthen their ties to the past while building a strong |
|
|
foundation for the future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 12th annual Black History |
|
|
Program at Northwest Preparatory Academy Charter School and extend |
|
|
to all those associated with the presentation sincere best wishes |
|
|
for a meaningful and memorable event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
