R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The students and teachers of Northwest Preparatory
  Academy Charter School in Houston are presenting the campus's 12th
  annual Black History Program on February 28, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Taking as its theme "Liberty and Justice for All,"
  this exciting celebration of African American history and culture
  will feature performances by students and presentations by guest
  speakers; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 2001, Northwest Preparatory Academy is an
  open-enrollment institution that provides a student-centered
  learning environment for more than 300 young people; the school
  places a strong emphasis on core subjects and involves members of
  the community in the education process to assist pupils in reaching
  their full potential; and
         WHEREAS, By honoring the achievements of African American
  trailblazers and leaders in its Black History Program, Northwest
  Preparatory Academy Charter School is helping its students to
  strengthen their ties to the past while building a strong
  foundation for the future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 12th annual Black History
  Program at Northwest Preparatory Academy Charter School and extend
  to all those associated with the presentation sincere best wishes
  for a meaningful and memorable event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
