R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Arthur Mann is the 2013 recipient of the Hill County
  Citizen of the Year award from the Hillsboro Area Chamber of
  Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Hillsboro, Art Mann graduated from
  Hubbard High School and earned an associate's degree from Hill
  College and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Sam Houston
  State University; as a longtime editor for the Hillsboro Reporter
  and as an on-air personality with KHBR Radio, he has covered major
  news events in the Hill County area for the past three decades; he
  is considered one of the community's foremost authorities on local
  government affairs and is well regarded for his fair and objective
  style of reporting; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Mann has further distinguished himself through
  his civic involvement; he is a senior member of the Hill County Go
  Texan Committee, which he helped establish in 1991 to fund
  scholarships for area youth, and he served as the inaugural chair of
  the Hill County Ag-Youth Board; moreover, he has been a member of
  the Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce Board for many years,
  including serving a term as president; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has shared his time and talents
  with myriad other organizations, including the Hill County
  Extension Service Council, the Hillsboro Heritage League, and the
  Friends of Hillsboro City Library; he is a member of the Hillsboro
  Masonic Lodge and an active alumnus in the Century Club of Hill
  College and the Sam Houston State University Alumni Association;
  during the biennial legislative session, Mr. Mann organizes Hill
  County Day at the State Capitol as an opportunity for residents to
  meet with their elected officials to discuss important local
  issues; and
         WHEREAS, Among Mr. Mann's other achievements is organizing a
  successful fund-raising concert in behalf of the Hill County
  Courthouse, which had sustained damage from a fire; that event and
  the subsequent rededication ceremony both featured Willie Nelson,
  and for the second rededication of the courthouse, Mr. Mann secured
  as the keynote speaker then governor George W. Bush; and
         WHEREAS, His exceptional public-spirited efforts have been
  previously recognized with a Liberty Bell Award from the Hillsboro
  Bar Association and an honorary membership in the Hillsboro Lions
  Club; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Mann enjoys the love and
  support of his wife, Susan, with whom he has shared more than three
  decades; the couple are blessed with a treasured family that
  includes their daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Chris Lidster
  and Ada and Justin Motherspau, and a beloved granddaughter, Keira;
  and
         WHEREAS, With his enthusiasm and dedication, Art Mann has
  made a positive difference in the lives of his fellow citizens, and
  it is indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing him for his
  meaningful contributions to Hill County; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Arthur Mann on his selection as the
  Hill County Citizen of the Year by the Hillsboro Area Chamber of
  Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Mann as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
