R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly |
|
cause for celebration, and Maria Silguero of Robstown reached that |
|
notable milestone in her life on January 6, 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1913 to Anastascio and Paula Quintaina in |
|
Karnes City, Maria Quintaina married Jose Vargas Silguero in |
|
Yorktown; together they became the parents of five children, |
|
Sorvidia, Israel, Reynaldo, Antonia, and Jose Silguero, Jr., and |
|
Mrs. Silguero has since welcomed into her family 32 grandchildren, |
|
numerous great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Silguero also worked |
|
for many years in the fields; today, she is seen regularly at the |
|
Robstown senior center, where she helps to serve meals to others; a |
|
dance was held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Robstown to |
|
commemorate her 100th birthday, and another event is taking place |
|
at the senior center on March 6, 2013, to honor this remarkable |
|
woman; and |
|
WHEREAS, The resilience and strength of character |
|
demonstrated by centenarians are a source of enduring inspiration, |
|
and in sharing the experience gained through a century of life well |
|
lived, Maria Silguero bestows a precious gift of wisdom that |
|
benefits all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Maria Silguero on her 100th |
|
birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Silguero as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
