R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of Latino Leaders of America are gathering
  at the State Capitol on February 28, 2013, providing a fitting
  occasion to pay tribute to this outstanding new organization; and
         WHEREAS, Headquartered in Austin, Latino Leaders of America
  was founded in 2012 to empower young Latinos to graduate from high
  school and college and to become productive citizens and leaders at
  the community, state, and national levels; and
         WHEREAS, This exemplary group consists of students,
  teachers, educators, and volunteers who are working together to
  provide young people with support and guidance in reaching their
  personal, educational, and professional goals; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of the organization's first year,
  LLA members have attended the 10th annual Latino Leadership Summit
  at The University of Texas at Austin, volunteered with the Travis
  County Sherriff's Office Brown Santa program, and assisted the
  elderly and disabled at the Oswaldo AB Cantu/Pan American Center in
  Austin; and
         WHEREAS, By working to improve academic and professional
  opportunities for Latino youth, the members of LLA are helping to
  set countless young Texans on the path to a brighter future; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the members and volunteers of Latino
  Leaders of America for their efforts and extend to them sincere best
  wishes for success with their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
