R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Naaman Forest High School in Garland has received a
  2012 College Readiness Award from the Texas ACT Council; and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade is presented to high
  schools that have made significant progress in increasing the
  number of students taking the ACT assessment over the course of a
  five-year period; in 2012, just 170 schools in Texas received the
  honor; and
         WHEREAS, Under the leadership of principal Steve Baker,
  Naaman Forest High School has implemented a number of initiatives
  to promote student preparedness; its PLAN and EXPLORE programs
  identify weaknesses and strengths of students to set benchmarks for
  progress and to provide them with information about career
  possibilities; and
         WHEREAS, The educators of Naaman Forest High School have
  given the young Texans in their charge a strong foundation on which
  to build, and their dedication to academic excellence is reflected
  in the positive results achieved by their students on the ACT
  assessment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Naaman Forest High School on its
  receipt of a 2012 College Readiness Award and extend to all those
  associated with the school sincere best wishes for continued
  achievement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
