R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Naaman Forest High School in Garland has received a |
|
2012 College Readiness Award from the Texas ACT Council; and |
|
WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade is presented to high |
|
schools that have made significant progress in increasing the |
|
number of students taking the ACT assessment over the course of a |
|
five-year period; in 2012, just 170 schools in Texas received the |
|
honor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of principal Steve Baker, |
|
Naaman Forest High School has implemented a number of initiatives |
|
to promote student preparedness; its PLAN and EXPLORE programs |
|
identify weaknesses and strengths of students to set benchmarks for |
|
progress and to provide them with information about career |
|
possibilities; and |
|
WHEREAS, The educators of Naaman Forest High School have |
|
given the young Texans in their charge a strong foundation on which |
|
to build, and their dedication to academic excellence is reflected |
|
in the positive results achieved by their students on the ACT |
|
assessment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Naaman Forest High School on its |
|
receipt of a 2012 College Readiness Award and extend to all those |
|
associated with the school sincere best wishes for continued |
|
achievement; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
