R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Kay Hopper retired from her post as chief executive |
|
officer of the Warren Center in Richardson on January 31, 2013, |
|
after nearly three decades of outstanding service to that agency; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The Warren Center is a nonprofit organization |
|
focused on early childhood intervention for children with |
|
developmental differences and disabilities; the center sees 1,400 |
|
children each year, helping them to improve motor, speech, feeding, |
|
cognition, and social skills, and also offers professionally led |
|
support groups and training sessions for parents; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Hopper spent a total of 29 years with the Warren |
|
Center, becoming its executive director in 1995; she was |
|
instrumental in the growth of the center, increasing enrollment in |
|
one program fivefold and adding another program, and she managed |
|
capital campaigns that enabled the center to move into a larger |
|
location; in addition, she led the agency through acquisitions in |
|
2009 and 2011 that tripled its service area and doubled its staff, |
|
allowing the center to reach and help families in all of northeast |
|
Dallas County, including Garland, north and east Dallas, the Park |
|
Cities, and Rowlett; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her deeply caring, committed, and energetic |
|
leadership, Kay Hopper has greatly expanded the capacity of the |
|
Warren Center to assist special needs children and their families, |
|
and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as she |
|
embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Kay Hopper on her retirement as CEO |
|
of the Warren Center in Richardson and extend to her sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Hopper as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
