R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The East Bernard High School football team won the
  2012 University Interscholastic League 2A Division 2 state
  championship with a victory in the title game held on December 20,
  2012, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington; and
         WHEREAS, Matching up against Mildred High School of
  Corsicana, the Brahmas excelled with an outstanding team effort;
  three players rushed for more than 100 yards, and four players
  scored touchdowns as East Bernard put points on the board in eight
  of its first nine drives; meanwhile, the defense tallied six sacks
  and shut down the Mildred offense for most of the game en route to a
  commanding 56-14 win; and
         WHEREAS, The triumph in the state final capped a remarkable
  season in which the Brahmas went undefeated for the first time in
  school history; along the way, they posted numerous shutouts and
  toppled highly regarded foes such as defending state champion
  Refugio, their opponent in the playoff quarterfinals; and
         WHEREAS, Ably guided by head coach Jerry Long and his staff,
  the Brahmas also benefited from the strong support of their
  classmates and the entire East Bernard community; in attaining
  their season-long goal of winning the state crown, these determined
  young athletes have become a source of great pride to their fans,
  and their exceptional performance on the gridiron in 2012 will long
  be remembered and celebrated; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the East Bernard High School
  football team on winning the UIL 2A Division 2 state championship
  and extend sincere best wishes to the team's players, coaches, and
  staff for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
