R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Distinguished members of the Alamo Area Council of
  Governments Board of Directors are gathering in Austin on March 12,
  2013, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize this noteworthy
  group; and
         WHEREAS, The Alamo Area Council of Governments is a voluntary
  association of local governments and organizations that serves the
  counties of Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie,
  Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Medina, and Wilson; it was
  established in 1967 and is a member of the Texas Association of
  Regional Councils; and
         WHEREAS, Among programs sponsored by the council are career
  centers in New Braunfels, Pleasanton, Seguin, and Kerrville, which
  offer workforce services for employers and job seekers and provide
  child-care subsidies for eligible parents; the council also has
  worked with the Alamo and Bexar Area Agencies on Aging, the Alamo
  Local Authority for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities,
  and the Alamo Regional Transit; and
         WHEREAS, Another important initiative, the Alamo Area
  Regional Law Enforcement Academy, provides basic, intermediate,
  advanced, and master certification courses for new and current
  peace officers, corrections officers, and telecommunications
  personnel representing law enforcement agencies throughout the
  Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, For more than four decades, the collaborative
  efforts of the Alamo Area Council of Governments have contributed
  to more responsive and efficient public services, enriching the
  lives of countless Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 12, 2013, as Alamo Area Council
  of Governments Day at the State Capitol and extend to the members of
  the board of directors and all associated with the council sincere
  best wishes for the future.
