H.R. No. 768
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating maturity and composure in the face of
  an emergency, six members of the cross-country team of Coronado
  High School in El Paso helped to assist a local resident in
  distress; and
         WHEREAS, On the morning of August 20, 2012, Chris Hernandez,
  Aryana Martinez, Karime Martinez, Rachel Schlinke, Tatiana
  Tarabulski, and Shanahan Vigil participated in a training run near
  their school; along the way, they heard faint cries for help from a
  house, and when Mr. Hernandez investigated, he discovered that
  resident Debra Whitcomb had fallen and broken her hip; and
         WHEREAS, Quickly taking action, the team began knocking on
  the doors of neighboring homes to find help; after 9-1-1 had been
  called, the students worked to keep Ms. Whitcomb comfortable until
  paramedics arrived to transport her to the hospital; and
         WHEREAS, The compassion and sound judgment these students
  demonstrated under pressure proved essential in helping a woman in
  dire need, and their actions are indeed deserving of special
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the members of the Coronado High School
  cross-country team who came to the aid of an injured member of their
  community and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
