R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jimmy Griffin retired from the U.S. Postal Service
  on January 31, 2013, drawing to a close a career in public service
  that spanned three and a half decades; and
         WHEREAS, After serving his country in the United States
  Marine Corps, Mr. Griffin found employment with the post office;
  hired in 1977, he initially worked nights as a mail handler in
  Lufkin; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin later became a mail carrier in
  Nacogdoches, and over the course of his 21 years there, he delivered
  mail on every route in the city, including one route that involved
  10 miles of walking; he subsequently returned to Lufkin to become a
  post office clerk, and he served as postmaster and supervisor as
  well; and
         WHEREAS, Jimmy Griffin demonstrated professionalism and
  commitment throughout his notable tenure with the USPS, and he may
  indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on
  the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jimmy Griffin on his retirement
  from the U.S. Postal Service and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Griffin as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
