R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jimmy Griffin retired from the U.S. Postal Service |
|
on January 31, 2013, drawing to a close a career in public service |
|
that spanned three and a half decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, After serving his country in the United States |
|
Marine Corps, Mr. Griffin found employment with the post office; |
|
hired in 1977, he initially worked nights as a mail handler in |
|
Lufkin; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin later became a mail carrier in |
|
Nacogdoches, and over the course of his 21 years there, he delivered |
|
mail on every route in the city, including one route that involved |
|
10 miles of walking; he subsequently returned to Lufkin to become a |
|
post office clerk, and he served as postmaster and supervisor as |
|
well; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jimmy Griffin demonstrated professionalism and |
|
commitment throughout his notable tenure with the USPS, and he may |
|
indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on |
|
the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jimmy Griffin on his retirement |
|
from the U.S. Postal Service and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Griffin as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
