R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 8 in Dallas boasts a
  long record of commendable service, and members of the troop are
  gathering at the Capitol on March 13, 2013, to celebrate the 100th
  anniversary of the troop's founding; and
         WHEREAS, Chartered by Oak Cliff United Methodist Church in
  1913, Troop 8 is the oldest continuously functioning troop within
  Circle Ten Council; over the years, the troop has touched the lives
  of countless boys by providing an educational program that builds
  character, develops personal fitness, and trains youth in the
  responsibilities of citizenship, and its many distinguished alumni
  include doctors, attorneys, bankers, and law enforcement officers;
  and
         WHEREAS, Accompanied by Tom Bohanan, who has served as
  scoutmaster for more than 50 years, members of Troop 8 will have a
  chance to tour the Capitol and learn more about the legislative
  process and the role that state government plays in meeting the
  needs of Texas and its citizens; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception, Troop 8 has provided
  neighborhood youth an opportunity to discover and enjoy the
  outdoors, expand their knowledge of myriad subjects, gain valuable
  leadership skills, and perform significant community service; it
  has, in short, made the world a better place, one scout at a time;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 8
  of Dallas on its 100th anniversary and commend the many individuals
  who have worked to support this fine organization during its
  century of service; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 8 as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
