R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
  generosity of Margaret Christine Holcombe of Cameron, who passed
  away on January 3, 2013, at the age of 66; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Travis County, the former "Chris" Laws
  was born on May 20, 1946; she graduated from Del Valle High School
  in Austin in 1963 and four years later earned her bachelor's degree
  in home economics from The University of Texas at Austin; in 1973,
  she married Roderick Holcombe, with whom she shared nearly four
  decades and raised two sons; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Holcombe worked for 35 years as the Texas A&M
  AgriLife Extension agent for family and consumer sciences in Milam
  County; her notable tenure in this position was distinguished by
  myriad achievements, including her receipt of the Texas 4-H
  Meritorious Service Award, a Houston Livestock Show Life Member
  Award for her work with the education committee, and a
  Distinguished Achievement 4-H Award from the Texas A&M AgriLife
  Extension Specialist Association; she enthusiastically supported
  local 4-H youth, encouraging them to attend college and to make a
  difference in the world; moreover, she helped hundreds of young
  Texans from Milam County and across the state to apply for and
  receive scholarships, and many of those students later sought her
  out to express their gratitude for her invaluable assistance; and
         WHEREAS, Following retirement, Mrs. Holcombe remained active
  in her community; she was involved with such organizations as First
  United Methodist Women, the Republican Women of Milam County, the
  Cameron Lions Club, the Cameron Arts and Service League, Friends of
  the Cameron Library, and the Cameron ISD advisory board, and in
  2010, she was named the Cameron Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the
  Year; and
         WHEREAS, Chris Holcombe served as an inspiring role model to
  all those who were fortunate enough to know her, and she leaves
  behind a legacy that will forever be treasured; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Margaret Christine
  Holcombe and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family:
  to her husband, Rod Holcombe; to her sons, Andy Holcombe and his
  wife, Micah, and Bill Holcombe and his wife, Sara; to her
  grandchildren, Luke and Aubrey Holcombe; to her brother, Charles
  Laws, and his wife, Gloria; to her sister, Cheryl Walker, and her
  husband, James; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Margaret
  Christine Holcombe.
