R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Annie Rhodes, a senior at Midway High School in |
|
Waco, has tied for the highest vault in the United States in girls' |
|
indoor pole vault, a feat that has earned her a share of the number |
|
one ranking in the sport; and |
|
WHEREAS, After steadily improving her performance in |
|
previous meets, Ms. Rhodes earned her top national ranking with a |
|
vault of 13 feet, 6 inches, at the Arkansas High School Invitational |
|
held at the Randal Tyson Track Complex at the University of Arkansas |
|
in Fayetteville on January 12, 2013; the vault also established a |
|
new record for a Central Texas athlete; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Rhodes has benefited from the expert guidance of |
|
Midway High track and field coach Ronny Boles and pole vault coach |
|
Lance Wineinger as well as her club coach, Jack Chapman; in March |
|
2013, she will compete at the New Balance Nationals in New York |
|
City, and this highly sought-after college recruit has verbally |
|
committed to continue her athletic career at Baylor University in |
|
the fall; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication, Annie Rhodes has |
|
distinguished herself as one of the top pole-vaulters in the |
|
nation, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her impressive |
|
accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Annie Rhodes on tying for the |
|
number one national ranking in girls' indoor pole vault and extend |
|
to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Rhodes as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
