R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Annie Rhodes, a senior at Midway High School in
  Waco, has tied for the highest vault in the United States in girls'
  indoor pole vault, a feat that has earned her a share of the number
  one ranking in the sport; and
         WHEREAS, After steadily improving her performance in
  previous meets, Ms. Rhodes earned her top national ranking with a
  vault of 13 feet, 6 inches, at the Arkansas High School Invitational
  held at the Randal Tyson Track Complex at the University of Arkansas
  in Fayetteville on January 12, 2013; the vault also established a
  new record for a Central Texas athlete; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Rhodes has benefited from the expert guidance of
  Midway High track and field coach Ronny Boles and pole vault coach
  Lance Wineinger as well as her club coach, Jack Chapman; in March
  2013, she will compete at the New Balance Nationals in New York
  City, and this highly sought-after college recruit has verbally
  committed to continue her athletic career at Baylor University in
  the fall; and
         WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication, Annie Rhodes has
  distinguished herself as one of the top pole-vaulters in the
  nation, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her impressive
  accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Annie Rhodes on tying for the
  number one national ranking in girls' indoor pole vault and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Rhodes as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
