R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in
  Houston celebrated the 50th anniversary of their church's
  establishment in January 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The fledgling church was organized in the home of
  its founder, the Reverend F. B. Bryant, and his wife, Thelma
  Bryant, on January 16, 1963; starting with 15 members, the church
  grew to include more than 220 people within three years, and three
  choirs were assembled to provide music for the services; and
         WHEREAS, In time, the church moved to its current location on
  Kashmere Street; Reverend Bryant passed away in 2003 after leading
  the church for a remarkable 40 years, and in 2005 the Reverend Jesse
  Lamont Bess was chosen as its pastor; today, Faith MBC members help
  further the work of their church through service on trustee,
  deacon, deaconess, and usher boards and through Sunday school,
  youth, culinary, and housekeeping ministries; and
         WHEREAS, Faith Missionary Baptist Church has long served as a
  source of spiritual enrichment to those who worship there, and its
  continued existence is a testament to the unwavering commitment of
  its clergy and its members, both past and present; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of Faith
  Missionary Baptist Church in Houston and extend to the congregation
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
