R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Mike Barajas was named Volunteer of the Year at the |
|
|
2012 Rowlett Boards and Commissions Volunteer Banquet on December |
|
|
6, 2012; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This prestigious award is one of several accolades |
|
|
that are given to individuals who distinguish themselves by |
|
|
donating their time and talents to benefit the community; Mr. |
|
|
Barajas, the coordinator for the city's Volunteers in Police |
|
|
Service program, helped to expand opportunities for local citizens |
|
|
to participate in this worthy initiative; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, His accomplishments with VIPS are all the more |
|
|
impressive given that he also serves on the board of directors of |
|
|
the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council, a group that promotes disaster |
|
|
and emergency preparedness; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Setting an example of civic engagement to which |
|
|
others may aspire, Mike Barajas has helped to make Rowlett an even |
|
|
better place in which to live, and his contributions have benefited |
|
|
his fellow residents in many ways; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Barajas on his receipt of the |
|
|
Volunteer of the Year Award at the 2012 Rowlett Boards and |
|
|
Commissions Volunteer Banquet and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
|
for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Barajas as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
