R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of George D. Thurman, Jr., of Dallas, who passed away on August 29, |
|
2012, at the age of 85; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Del Rio on March 16, 1927, George Thurman was |
|
the son of Guida Bruce and George D. Thurman, Sr.; he graduated from |
|
Cotulla High School and subsequently served his country in the |
|
United States Navy; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Thurman later continued his education, earning |
|
a degree from Texas A&I University, and he was employed in the |
|
insurance industry for three decades; known for his smile and firm |
|
handshake, he loved people; he also took great delight in nature and |
|
in spending time outdoors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Above all, Mr. Thurman treasured his family; he |
|
shared 54 years with his wife, Josephine, and he took great pride in |
|
their children, Laura Houston and her husband, Greg, and Mark |
|
Thurman and his wife, Angela, their grandchildren, Jon, Mark, |
|
Shannon, Haley, Megan, and Nick, and their great-grandchildren, |
|
Noah and James; and |
|
WHEREAS, George Thurman lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|
and he will always be remembered with great tenderness and |
|
affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George D. Thurman, |
|
Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to his friends and loved ones; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George |
|
D. Thurman, Jr. |
