R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
  of George D. Thurman, Jr., of Dallas, who passed away on August 29,
  2012, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Del Rio on March 16, 1927, George Thurman was
  the son of Guida Bruce and George D. Thurman, Sr.; he graduated from
  Cotulla High School and subsequently served his country in the
  United States Navy; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Thurman later continued his education, earning
  a degree from Texas A&I University, and he was employed in the
  insurance industry for three decades; known for his smile and firm
  handshake, he loved people; he also took great delight in nature and
  in spending time outdoors; and
         WHEREAS, Above all, Mr. Thurman treasured his family; he
  shared 54 years with his wife, Josephine, and he took great pride in
  their children, Laura Houston and her husband, Greg, and Mark
  Thurman and his wife, Angela, their grandchildren, Jon, Mark,
  Shannon, Haley, Megan, and Nick, and their great-grandchildren,
  Noah and James; and
         WHEREAS, George Thurman lived a caring and purposeful life,
  and he will always be remembered with great tenderness and
  affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George D. Thurman,
  Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to his friends and loved ones; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George
  D. Thurman, Jr.
