R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Dr. Anne Thayer Wier of San Antonio is retiring as
  director of the Laurel Heights United Methodist Church Weekday
  School in May 2013, drawing to a close a distinguished tenure in
  education that has spanned nearly four decades; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Trinity University, where she earned a
  degree in elementary education and certification in language and
  learning disabilities, Dr. Wier went on to earn a master's degree in
  educational psychology from The University of Texas at San Antonio
  and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with early childhood
  emphasis from The University of Texas at Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Wier began her professional career in 1975 as an
  educational therapist with Academic Development Services before
  joining the Northside Independent School District as a classroom
  teacher; after six years, she became lead teacher at Laurel Heights
  UMC Weekday School, and since 1985, she has served as its director;
  this esteemed educator has also held the post of adjunct instructor
  at both Trinity University and The University of Texas at San
  Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and
  support of her husband, Max Harris Wier III, and their children, Max
  Wier IV and Molly Wier; retirement will afford Dr. Wier the
  opportunity to not only spend more time with her family but indulge
  her interests in gardening, reading, and golfing; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her outstanding career, Dr. Wier has
  demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the success of young
  Texans, and as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life,
  she may indeed reflect with pride on her many accomplishments; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Anne Thayer Wier on her
  retirement as director of the Laurel Heights United Methodist
  Church Weekday School and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Wier as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
