R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, William F. Fendley has been chosen by his peers as |
|
|
the Houston Area 2013 Engineer of the Year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than four decades, Bill Fendley has |
|
|
dedicated himself to the engineering profession; he cofounded an |
|
|
engineering firm in 1980 that has since grown to include more than |
|
|
180 employees in seven locations; a registered professional |
|
|
engineer in six states and a registered land surveyor in Texas, he |
|
|
has performed planning and surveying services for public works, |
|
|
telecommunications, transportation, and utility projects |
|
|
throughout the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Fendley was elected president of the Texas |
|
|
Society of Professional Engineers in 2007, and he is a member of the |
|
|
National Society of Professional Engineers, the Political Action |
|
|
Committee for Engineers, the Texas Council of Consulting |
|
|
Engineering Companies, and the American Society of Civil Engineers; |
|
|
moreover, he frequently speaks to legislators, students, and other |
|
|
groups about the engineering field; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of the Cullen College of Engineering at |
|
|
the University of Houston, Mr. Fendley has given back to his alma |
|
|
mater by serving on a number of leadership, advisory, and alumni |
|
|
boards, and he helped to create endowments in civil engineering and |
|
|
telecommunications and to fund scholarships and building projects; |
|
|
his efforts have been recognized with a Distinguished Alumni Award |
|
|
and an Eichorn Leadership Award, and he was inducted into the UH |
|
|
Academy of Distinguished Civil and Environmental Engineers in 2011; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Bill Fendley has contributed greatly to his |
|
|
profession over the past 40 years, and along the way he has |
|
|
demonstrated an admirable commitment to sharing his expertise with |
|
|
his colleagues, with future engineers, and with the greater |
|
|
community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Bill Fendley on his selection as |
|
|
the Houston Area 2013 Engineer of the Year and extend to him sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Fendley as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
