R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Tracie Smithwick-Rodriguez has been honored by the |
|
|
YWCA of Corpus Christi with a Y Women in Careers Award for her |
|
|
outstanding professional accomplishments; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Created in 1979, the Y Women in Careers Award honors |
|
|
individuals in the Coastal Bend community who have achieved |
|
|
distinction in their field; these inspiring individuals serve as |
|
|
role models for young girls and demonstrate that women can excel in |
|
|
every occupation; during the 33rd annual awards celebration, held |
|
|
on March 7, 2013, this year's honorees joined an elite list of |
|
|
notable female leaders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Smithwick-Rodriguez, the founding principal of |
|
|
Collegiate High School, has been helping students prepare for, and |
|
|
achieve in, higher education for nearly two decades; she has |
|
|
garnered numerous accolades for her work, including the Las |
|
|
Estrellas Award for Education from the Hispanic Women's Network of |
|
|
Texas and designation as a state finalist for the H-E-B Principal |
|
|
Award; this esteemed educator holds a doctorate in education, two |
|
|
master of science degrees, and a bachelor of science degree from |
|
|
Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through her tireless dedication and consummate |
|
|
professionalism, Tracie Smithwick-Rodriguez has indeed set a |
|
|
worthy example for this and future generations; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Tracie Smithwick-Rodriguez on her |
|
|
receipt of a 2013 Y Women in Careers Award from the Corpus Christi |
|
|
YWCA and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in |
|
|
all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Smithwick-Rodriguez as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
