R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Tracie Smithwick-Rodriguez has been honored by the
  YWCA of Corpus Christi with a Y Women in Careers Award for her
  outstanding professional accomplishments; and
         WHEREAS, Created in 1979, the Y Women in Careers Award honors
  individuals in the Coastal Bend community who have achieved
  distinction in their field; these inspiring individuals serve as
  role models for young girls and demonstrate that women can excel in
  every occupation; during the 33rd annual awards celebration, held
  on March 7, 2013, this year's honorees joined an elite list of
  notable female leaders; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Smithwick-Rodriguez, the founding principal of
  Collegiate High School, has been helping students prepare for, and
  achieve in, higher education for nearly two decades; she has
  garnered numerous accolades for her work, including the Las
  Estrellas Award for Education from the Hispanic Women's Network of
  Texas and designation as a state finalist for the H-E-B Principal
  Award; this esteemed educator holds a doctorate in education, two
  master of science degrees, and a bachelor of science degree from
  Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi; and
         WHEREAS, Through her tireless dedication and consummate
  professionalism, Tracie Smithwick-Rodriguez has indeed set a
  worthy example for this and future generations; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Tracie Smithwick-Rodriguez on her
  receipt of a 2013 Y Women in Careers Award from the Corpus Christi
  YWCA and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in
  all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Smithwick-Rodriguez as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
