R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Wild Horse Desert Round-Up BBQ Cook Off is |
|
|
taking place April 26 and 27, 2013, in Bishop; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Held in conjunction with the city's other Wild Horse |
|
|
Desert Round-Up festivities, the cook-off is an International |
|
|
Barbeque Cookers Association championship event and features |
|
|
lively competition and good eating; skilled pit masters put their |
|
|
talents to the test as they vie to produce the tastiest smoked |
|
|
meats, with cash prizes going to the top finishers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This highly anticipated get-together has taken |
|
|
place each year since 2010 and offers area residents and visitors |
|
|
alike an opportunity to sample some great food while supporting a |
|
|
worthy cause; proceeds are used to fund the Bishop Chamber of |
|
|
Commerce scholarship program, which benefits deserving seniors at |
|
|
Bishop High School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A fun-filled event for people of all ages, the Wild |
|
|
Horse Desert Round-Up BBQ Cook Off has become a popular celebration |
|
|
of Texas-style food and is all the more special for the scholarship |
|
|
assistance it provides to local students seeking to further their |
|
|
education; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the Wild Horse Desert Round-Up BBQ |
|
|
Cook Off and extend sincere best wishes to the event's participants |
|
|
and organizers for an enjoyable and rewarding experience. |
