R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 101st birthday is indeed cause for celebration, |
|
and Annella Lewis Baker of Waco marked that significant milestone |
|
in her life on February 8, 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born to Watson and Berdie Lewis in 1912, the former |
|
Annella Lewis was the youngest of three children; she grew up in |
|
McGregor and attended public schools there; and |
|
WHEREAS, Among the many jobs she held over the years, her |
|
favorite was her tenure with the Waco Independent School District, |
|
where she was employed for more than three decades and was known for |
|
her dedication and her fair decisions; affectionately called |
|
"Mrs. Nell" or "Mama Nell," Mrs. Baker is a valued member of the |
|
St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church of Waco; and |
|
WHEREAS, A source of wisdom and inspiration, Annella Baker |
|
has witnessed a panorama of change during a historic century, and |
|
her 101st birthday offers a welcome opportunity to remind her of the |
|
special place she holds in the hearts of her many loved ones; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Annella Lewis Baker on her 101st |
|
birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Baker as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
